Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Perinatal Mental Health Therapist to join our team. This role focuses on providing specialized mental health support to individuals and families during the perinatal period, including fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, loss, and early parenting. The ideal candidate will have experience in perinatal mental health, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couples, and/or group therapy for clients navigating perinatal mental health challenges, including perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), birth trauma, infertility, pregnancy loss, and adjustment to parenthood.

  • Conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and monitor client progress.

  • Utilize evidence-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Therapy & Attachment-Based Approaches, Somatic and Mindfulness Approaches, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

  • Collaborate with OB/GYNs, midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, pediatricians, and other healthcare providers to offer holistic care.

  • Provide psychoeducation and support around attachment, bonding, and early parent-child relationships.

  • Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with ethical and legal standards.

  • Stay informed on the latest research and best practices in perinatal mental health.

  • Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Active clinical license in IL.

  • Specialized training and experience in perinatal mental health. PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certification) preferred or willingness to obtain.

  • Strong understanding of intersectionality, cultural humility, and inclusive care for diverse families.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating on a team.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
